This has becomeeven more relevant in current day times as the number ofpeople with severe obesity is increasing rapidly. There is aneed for all treating doctors, including the referringphysician, the anaesthetist, the operating surgeon, and thepost-operative intensivist, to understand and counselabout these risks to patients with obesity in theperioperative period. In this paper, the authors highlightthe risks associated with anaesthesia in a patient withsevere obesity.
