Vocabulartherapeutics may be defined as the use of languagemodels to assess, and address, internal impediments tohealthy behaviour, based upon the choice of vocabularyof an individual (or society). The analysis of words, phrasesand sentences, allows modification of “unhealthy” beliefsand choices, thus facilitating healthier behaviour. This isbased upon the premise that thoughts, words and actionsare able to influence each other, finally reaching a state ofconcordance. Vocabular therapeutics should beconsidered an integral part of behavioural therapy, lifestyle modification and medication counselling. Theconcept finds utility in chronic disease care, includingobesity management. Keywords: Biopsychosocial, chronic disease, diabetes, communication, obesity, psychosocial.
